This is one of my favourite simple relaxation exercises, using our senses (sight, hearing, physical touch/sensations) to help calm the mind chatter and relax the body. This exercise is said to be created by Betty Erickson, wife of the famous hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, and is sometimes known as “Betty Erickson Induction”. Similar principles have also been used for in some meditation practices since ancient times.
